Executive Director’s Report:
We discussed a breakdown of how NumFOCUS staff time is spent by project and how this compares to revenue brought in by project.
NumFOCUS staff is continuing to work with the Moore Foundation on getting continued support of NumFOCUS DISC initiatives from Moore and will soon submit a final grant proposal to Moore for this work.
Nvidia is renewing their Gold sponsorship; this year they will support Dask.
Triplebyte, a startup that helps engineers looking for career opportunities to showcase their strengths and match with institutions, is interested in donating funds to Pandas based on the number of software engineers associated with Pandas that Triplebyte is able to place. Whether such an arrangement will be achieved and the details of such an arrangement are still under consideration. NumFOCUS will communicate its recommendations regarding this potential arrangement to Pandas.
Discussion Items:
a. We voted to not give discounts on corporate members that pay for developers to work on NF projects (6-0-0)
b. Project Status Criteria for Affiliated and Sponsored Projects (Tabled from last meeting)
The Board will read through a document on the proposed criteria before
the next meeting.
c. Project Incubator Program
The first meeting to discuss the details of this program was held by
the Board earlier this week.
d. Vote on mlpack application for fiscal sponsorship - Sylvain is the Champion (TABLED)
e. Review affiliated projects for inactivity – pending
f. Leah had the first check-in meeting with an Affiliated project (Chainer/CuPy) last week.
