• Statutory reporting
  • Internal controls
  • GAAP - standardized reporting across industry.
  • Different reporting for nonprofits. 4 required reports that all boards are supposed to see all the time 360 view in finances of org
• May Board Financial Reports
  • Statement of Activity aka P&L for Nonprofits
    • Restricted - as a particular purpose. donor says you have to do something with money or board says you have to do something with money. Most of NF’s $ is restricted. SDG = board restricted.
    • Unrestricted - can spend on anything.
  • Statement of Financial Position - balance sheet
    • No such thing as equity in a nonprofit. Just assets
  • Statement of Cash Flows
  • Statement of Functional Activities
    • Lines of business in for profits, but called programs in NPs
    • Allocations -> take admin $ and divide them across programs
  • Budget vs Actuals (by month, til year)
• SDG Board Resolutions
  • SDGs must be board resolutions or else we can’t restrict the funds
