History
Work on pandas started at AQR (a quantitative hedge fund) in 2008 and has been under active development since then.
In 2008, pandas development began at AQR Capital Management. By the end of 2009 it had been open sourced, and is actively supported today by Lambda Foundry, a company focused on building high-performance and high-productivity tools for Finance. Please see the commercial support page for full details.
