Overview
NOTE: I’m in the process of moving most of this documentation to the NumFOCUS Wiki.
Why? Good question. Couple of reasons:
- The main reason I put all of this documentation on GitHub in the first place is because NumFOCUS didn’t have a public wiki. It does now.
- I want to encourage people to contribute to the documentation I write. I think contributing via the wiki has fewer barriers to entry. Since we’ve enabled VisualEditor you don’t need to know markdown or git.
- Mediawiki, the software that powers the NumFOCUS wiki offers powerful tools for structuring content. This will matter more and more as we improve our public-facing documentation.
If you were relying on GitHub notifications to know when I posted something here, I apologize for breaking your workflow. Some suggestions for ways you can keep up with the Sustainability work now that most updates will go on the wiki:
- You can see the most recent changes I’ve made on the wiki on Special:Contributions/Christie.
- You can see the most recent changes anyone has made on Special:RecentChanges.
- You can see a list of all my weekly reports here on User:Christie/Weekly Reports.
- I’ll be cross-posting my weekly reports to our Discourse forum in the Sustainability category. This effectively replicates the email and browser notifications GitHub provies if you sign-up for our Discourse and adjust your settings accordingly.
If none of those work for you, drop me a line with suggestions.
I’m also considering a proposal to enable RSS/Atom feeds for wiki content. If that’s something you’d like, voice your opinion on the issue.
